As China harvests Xinjiang cotton, researchers say the loophole in US sanctions remains

This effect was noticed last week during China’s annual shopping holiday, a special promotional day Black Friday known as “Singles Day”. Chinese e-commerce platform Tmall reported that domestic sportswear brand Anta’s Singles Day sales jumped 61 percent year-over-year, surpassing those of Nike and Adidas. Anta is committed to continuing to use Xinjiang cotton, in contrast to Nike and Adidas, which said they are suspending sourcing from the region.
