Arrest in connection with hateful graffiti outbreak in Waterloo, which showed 14 cars tagged ‘Police’

According to Waterloo Regional Police, a 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a recent graffiti outbreak in the Uptown District that involved hate-motivated symbols and writing on 14 cars.

They say the man, who is from Waterloo, has been charged with mischief under $5,000.

The cars were tagged around 6 a.m. on August 21.

They are just one of more than a dozen hate-motivated incidents that took place across the region in August.

All of the vandalism prompted the City of Waterloo to release a statement condemning the graffiti that appeared in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo.
