Arkane Studios’ next game could be another FPS
Arkane Studios has been very busy lately with the recent Deathloop and the upcoming Redfall, and it looks like they are recruiting for another project.
French developer Arkane Studios have really showcased their creative talents over the past few years, with many of their releases receiving critical acclaim. With this year Deathloop highly rated by critics and upcoming release of Redfall in the summer of 2022, not to mention favorite things humiliation games and Prey reboot, the studio has been pretty busy over the past decade. That doesn’t seem to slow things down, though, as a recent job listing suggests the next project could be another first-person shooter.
Even like Arkane Studios works on Redfall, the developer still wants to hire new talent, with the position open to an environmental artist. While it doesn’t specify what the candidate will be doing, other than “making AAA titles,” it does require potential applicants to have a passion, especially first-person shooters. It’s unlikely to be a location for Redfall, it’s been in the works for a number of years now and may be in late development. This could potentially be a brand new IP, but what that could be is anyone’s guess at this stage.
Another possibility is that it may be related to some potential Deathloop DLC. At the time of writing, there doesn’t seem to be any official word on whether the time loop game will have any additional content, but given that Arkane Studios is used to creating DLC for titles. It’s also within the realm of possibility that anyone hired as an environmental artist could be set up to work on those fields.
When Arkane Studios has been criticized for its lack of accessibility options in its games, namely Deathloop, not to mention the PC stuttering issues at first, it doesn’t seem to affect the developer’s reputation too much. Given that a hotfix was sent out to fix the frame rate issues, that suggests that studio has plenty of room for modification.
With Deathloop is a must play game for PS5, Arkane’s star is just sublimating, so the pressure is on the team to continuously create quality titles. Unfortunately, there’s not much that can really be gained from job postings. At this stage it can only be speculated as to what the role will involve, but given the developer’s popularity and their reputation for making great games, there’s every possibility. Feature is a new FPS from the studio an exciting prospect for any fan.
