Ari Lennox Says She Will Be Quiet After Amsterdam Arrest – It’s Painful

Ari Lennox says she has much to say about her arrest in Amsterdam but feels she is being silenced.

Last month, Lennox was arrested in the country for what she alleges is a case of racial profiling. “I am being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman who spoke about me racially,” Lennox wrote on Twitter at the time, before saying: “F*ck Amsterdam Security. They hate black people.”

Although there were no further details at the time of posting the singer’s tweet, according to reports, she was allegedly arrested for being drunk in public. On Saturday (December 4), the “Shea Butter Baby” singer took to Instagram to express that she is safe and would love to tell her story but she is being silenced by KLM.

Hitherto, Ari only talked about her initial statements on the incident, however, the London-based newspaper Reuters Later it was reported that Dutch military police had arrested Lennox on charges of disturbing public order, after she accused KLM staff of Royal Dutch Airlines of racial discrimination.

In a statement following the incident, a KLM spokesperson told Guardians,

“There was a change… in terms of seeing her identification. The landlady did not show the exact documents. When the staff confronted her, she reached the wrong conclusion.”

The report added that Lennox is being held because the police are investigating claims of threats reported by Lennox, both before and during her arrest. Ari has not yet responded to these allegations.
