Apple Watch SE 2 may launch next year

Apple is in a dominant position in the wearables market, but theirs doesn’t come cheap, like the company’s other product categories. However, the Cupertino tech giant do introduce an affordable ‘SE’ variant last year to maximize the reach of its wearables. Now according to a new report published by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is working on the second generation Apple Watch SE, which could officially be called the Apple Watch SE 2.

The report does not go into detail about the specifications of the Apple Watch SE 2, leaving us unclear about the key details of the smartwatch. On the bright side, it claims that Apple is gearing up for the Watch SE 2 to launch in 2022, although what’s disappointing is that we don’t have any word on an exact launch date yet.

Like the Apple Watch SE, its successor is likely to lack premium features like an always-on display, blood oxygen sensor, and ECG functionality. But we wouldn’t mind if Apple proved us wrong in this case.

While we don’t have solid proof, it is rumored that the new Apple Watch SE 2 will have an updated design and will also offer some additional features related to health and fitness management. Furthermore, Apple is said to be launching a solid variant of the Apple Watch SE 2 with the aim of attracting athletes, details of which are yet to be revealed. But we can expect the variant to be definitely more resistant to scratches, dents, and drops.

Apple currently dominates the wearables space with more than 30% market share, and by focusing more on the low-cost segment, the company is hoping to attract more users into its ecosystem.

How many of you are using Apple Watch SE? What features would you like Apple to add to your successor? Let us know what you think in the comments section.
