Apex’s Raiders event to go live with Winter Express
Apex Legends’ The Raiders collection event is going live, giving fans some new pirate-inspired holiday themed spirit.
Players have until December 21 to board the Winter Express and claim their event-specific loot. Those who complete the collection can also get the Wattson Heirloom set as a bonus.
All on the Winter Express train
Winter Express is Respawn’s signature limited-time mode for the holidays — and it’s returning for the Raiders event. In it, three teams battle for control of a moving train, a relic of the time the train on World’s Edge moved across the map. This year, however, players can choose their own load before diving into the mode, which gives more flexibility depending on what legends they’re running. It’s also a chance to see how new legends Fuse, Valkyrie, Seer and Ash can change the gameplay in the mode.
Pirate themed collection
This isn’t a gathering event without items to collect, and Respawn is bringing a bunch of pirate-themed cosmetics into the game. In addition to a host of enchantments for legends like Wattson, Bloodhound, Revenant, Loba, Wraith, and Pathfinder, players can earn a host of free rewards just by playing — including a gun charm that displays the mouse of Ash with a knife. You read it right.
Skins from last year’s System Override event will also reappear in the shop, giving players another chance to pick up skins they missed when the event went live. The in-game store will also include bundles with certain event skins and event packs. Fans who collect all the items will receive a special prize.
Wattson Heirloom
Wattson, who joined Apex Games in season two, is finally getting his own Heirloom Set. Energy Reader looks like it might shock the competition, and players were able to spot some easter eggs in it—such as the sticker of Wattson’s cat, Nikola, on the far left.
Custom metrics and balance changes
Events often bring balance patches, and in that respect Raiders are pretty lightweight. Debris brought an important change to Arc Stars and added a handy feature: ability to add custom reticle color. This allows players to choose their reticle color, matching their preferences. This is also an important accessibility feature as it allows colorblind players to choose the best options for them.
