Apex myth error absurdly shrinking Octan

An Apex Legends team encounters an unusually small Octane player who uses an unfair advantage of size and mobility to obliterate the team.

Years of Active Development, Respawn and EA’s Apex Legends continued to run into increasingly strange problems. The popular battle royale genre has seemed relatively stable in recent times, but a particularly unfair issue with an Octane player suggests that the game is far from being bulletproof.

Recently Apex Legends has been working on fixing problems with the game’s servers and common errors. Throughout late 2021 to early 2022, Respawn seems to have solved the biggest problems, keeping the game alive through one of its worst times. However, some strange errors are now starting to appear.

In a video post, player _Komodo_ demonstrates an uphill fight against opposing players using Octane. The octane in question seems to be much smaller than normal and, of course, _Komodo_ will be much harder to hit. The Octane prevails and unjustly erased the lineup, leaving viewers in the comments section on the clip wondering if it was an intentional hack or a bug.

Some commenters on the video expressed that they’ve also encountered the bug, with one _Steven_Seagal_ confirming that the players experiencing the bug also moved the camera to fit the tiny model, leaving you unable to do anything. It’s as simple as looking inside the storage bin. As it stands, no consistent way to trigger the bug has been found. However, some players have expressed how they want to watch a limited time Apex Legends regime in the arena map with smaller characters, making the size more reasonable.

Despite how much fun it can be from a casual point of view, minor player bugs are a big concern for Apex Legends‘competitiveness; Apex Legends Aim to be a balanced game, and a bug like this leads to a lot of unjustified damage. Even so, it appears that this bug is Respawn’s top priority to fix, as it appears the tiny Octane is not an isolated incident.

While it would be nice for Respawn to get a quick fix, it would be interesting if a limited time mode is implemented as some of the answers suggest. The idea of turning a bug into a feature has not been consistently adopted in the gaming industry, and it would be a great way to turn a negative into a positive. Regardless of how Respawn responds to this, the error is at least not as severe as other problems that have appeared in the past, such as popular Apex Legends server problems from last year. Hopefully any future problems will be less severe.
