Apex Legends leaks next-gen update for PS5 and Xbox Series X

Apex Legends’ leakerShrug‘ discovered lines of code indicating that the next-gen update, promised by Respawn Entertainment, could be coming. The developers say that the update will roll out in 2021, but haven’t revealed any official details for months. With new lines of code discovered in the game’s files from the latest patch, it looks like we could get the next-gen update this year.
Apex Legends next generation upgrade leaked
In addition to all the hardware that Apex Legends has available, Respawn has added ‘Hardware_XB5’ and ‘Hardware_PS5’ to its lines of code in the game. This shows that the game is being optimized for the new consoles from Sony and Microsoft.
The Shrugtal leak is a confirmation that the next-gen upgrade is on the way. But Respawn has yet to confirm the release of the next-gen patch this year.
What will happen from the next generation Apex Legends upgrade?
Team Manager Respawn revealed in Q&A Earlier this year a 120 FPS upgrade is in the works and it should be available by the end of 2021. The remake has been pretty quiet since then but with the latest leaks coming out in the wild, we might expect an update next month. The previous developer update we received was in September 2021 with the studio’s Communications Director revealing that the update is still in the works.
Which consoles are getting the next-gen Apex Legends upgrade?
PlayStation 5 Digital and PlayStation 5 are confirmed to receive new frame rate upgrades but when it comes to Microsoft’s new Xbox console, only Series X has been confirmed so far. It is not yet known if the weaker Series S can handle the game at 120 FPS, and there is no official confirmation of the console yet.
