“New account, in my opinion 😋 Alaska was born, raised in Indiana,” the profile reads. “Living tourism. LA NY on business. ✈️. ”

On the afternoon of February 13, 2017, Williams, 13 years old, and the German, 14 years old, departure from Monon High Bridge, an abandoned railroad rig that forms part of Delphi, Indiana’s vast historic trail system, for hiking. When they failed to return to the trailhead a few hours later for the scheduled pickup, their family reported the couple missing. At first, the police did not suspect foul play. But when the body of the eighth grader was discovered the next day, about half a mile from the bridge, police launched a criminal investigation.

Investigators have released a still image from a video found on a German smartphone of an unidentified man – who was later named a suspect – walking on a bridge . Police later released audio footage of the man telling the two girls, “You guys… get down the hill.” Suspect described by authorities as a white male be between the ages of 18 and 40, are 5′ 6” to 5′ 10″ tall and weigh between 180 and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a hoodie. Nearly 30,000 tips have been issued by detectives, but no arrests have been made. Police have never revealed how the two died.

German’s grandmother, Becky Patty, told The Daily Beast that the murders had a profound effect on the family.

“Our lives have spanned five years,” she said in a phone interview on Tuesday.

According to detectives, the young man seen in the anthony_shots file is now private has been identified and is not a person of interest in the investigation, according to detectives, who said they are looking for information. information about the person who created the fake profile.

The Daily Beast tracked down the real person – and the model – in the account anthony_shots, who lives in Ketchikan, Alaska and works as a police officer. There was no answer Tuesday morning at a phone number listed under his real name, and an email seeking comment bounced back as undeliverable.

Investigators are asking anyone who has “communicated with, met with, or attempted to meet anthony_shots records” to contact police at abbyandlibbytip@cacoshrf.com or 765-822-3535. They’re looking for as much information as possible, including “saved images or conversations with profile anthony_shots.”

In 2019, Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter said: Police believe the suspect “is from Delphi – currently or previously lived here, regularly visits Delphi or works here.”

The anthony_shots record itself was created by 27-year-old Kegan Anthony Kline of Peru, Indiana, according to court filings in an unrelated case. One August 2020 probable cause affidavit by The Daily Beast states that Kline—A person currently in custody pending trial on charges of child solicitation, child exploitation, possession of child pornography, identity fraud and obstruction of justice — admitted to continuing exposed many underage girls on Instagram and Snapchat, who sent him more than 100 pornographic photos and videos.

Indiana State Police and the FBI conducted a search of Kline’s home on February 25, 2017, 11 days after Williams and Duc’s bodies were found. Interrogated by investigators, Kline “stated that if a girl told him she was 16 or younger he wouldn’t be interested and would still talk to them,” the affidavit reads, saved. Note that Kline’s alleged victims ranged in age from 15 to 17 years old. However, the heavily redacted filing does not link Kline to the Delphi case.

Kline, whose Facebook profile says he worked as a dealer at a Las Vegas casino, will appear in court December 16 for a pre-trial conference, according to state court records. state.

Patty hopes that the new focus on the murders of her niece and her friend may eventually lead to a case-solving.

“It’s a good thing, it gives us hope,” she told The Daily Beast. “Our request is that people share this information, police want to speak to anyone who has spoken with this record. Because they all don’t know who this person was talking to. We just need people to be aware and contact the police and give them the information they need.”
