Another WB Games Montreal project in development with Gotham Knights
WB Games Montreal is a studio with a story to tell. Over the past few years, leaks have hinted at a number of WB Game Montreal projects being canceled, often including concept images and game details. Now that WB Games Montreal is set to launch its next game, Knight of Gotham, yet leaked information continues to spread. The latest example comes from a current WB Games Montreal artist who listed a separate project ongoing in development. Knight of Gotham.
Before anyone jumps into an incorrect assumption, there is no indication that WB Games Montreal has moved from development of Knight of Gotham or are cropping it up before launch. Instead, Senior Artist Megan Berry listed a mystery project on her LinkedIn experience timeline alongside her work on Knight of Gotham. Berry served as the “co-founder” of this project, as well as its art director, helping to co-design its core gameplay pillars and features.
Berry did not elaborate on the nature of the project, providing no information on what kind of game it was or whether it was related to the game. WB Games Montreal’s DC Comics Projects. However, she mentioned that she worked with “remote teams on a demo.” Since Berry is the art director of the project, this means it is a demo or video art, not a playable demo. It still shows that the project has progressed to a point where it can be presented as something bigger.
The last important detail on Berry’s list is that it has an end date. Berry lists her time with the project as September 2019 to June 2021. That could mean many things. It could mean that Berry left the project, it could mean that the project was aborted, or it could mean it was in limbo while WB Games Montreal complete its work on Knight of Gotham.
There was nothing unusual about the situation, of course. It’s a habit for game developer team to start working on pre-production on potential new projects when their work on the current game drops. That way, the team can switch to a new game once the old one comes out.
However, there are plenty of DC Comics fans who can’t wait to hear what WB Games Montreal may be doing next. Maybe it was a rumor from a long time ago Superman game, Canceled Damian Batman project come back to life, or something else entirely. Currently, WB Games Montreal is still focusing on Knight of Gothamand hopefully that’s all the fans want.
