Anna Delvey says New York Art Show ‘is the beginning of my story’

Convicted fraudster Anna Delvey presented new artwork Thursday night in New York and made a video appearance in her prison jumpsuit at the event at the Public Hotel.
“Hi everyone, Anna Delvey here,” she said in an audio recording played at the show before her performance, according to the Sun. “I’m so excited to unveil my very first art collection entitled ‘Allegedly’. This is a collection of sketches I made while incarcerated on the ICE Orange County. I wanted to capture some of the moments of the last few years, both never before seen and iconic, with the limited tools at my disposal.
“I studied fashion management in Paris and didn’t really draw until my exam. You’ve heard so many voices, but this is the beginning of my story, my narration from my perspective. I hope you enjoy the show.”
It was “amazing to see everyone,” said Delvey – whose story was made into the Netflix drama. invent Anna, which began streaming in February – announced to the crowd of attendees in a later live video link. I have so many people texting me through my GTL app saying how awesome everything is,” she added Sun.
Delvey made the sketches — including one with her name and the words “Not Guilty,” written multiple times — while she was being held at the Orange County Correctional Facility in Goshen, New York. After serving a prison sentence for multiple counts of grand larceny and theft of services, she was jailed again for overstaying her visa. Delvey, who is not a lawyer, emailed a reporter earlier Thursday that “I am very excited to open my own law practice” with “full legal protection from someone who has been there before.”
