Animated ‘Legion of Super-Heroes’ Series in the Works for HBO Max

The DC Comics return catalog has always been a big part of HBO Max’s expansion of original content, but even then, it’s still a surprise at how many projects are being worked on for a single franchise. the streaming service is only eighteen months old.

In terms of feature films, we had Bat girl and Black canary on the go, but the TV is where it is. On top of two subtitles emanating from Matt Reeves’ Batman, John Cena’s People of Peace landing next month, JJ Abrams is monitoring Justice League Dark, Mrs. X, Constantine and more, Batman: Caped Crusader and My Adventures with Superman is scratching the right itch, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg that could easily sink the Titanic.

Now we can add another title to that list, after Brian Michael Bendis confirmed in his latest newsletter that Legion of superheroes Animation program is being made. The comic book creator revealed that HBO Max has contacted him about the possibility of adapting a DC production, and he hasn’t hesitated to name his recommended candidate.

The multi-episode effort will be inspired by the most recent season Legion of superheroes run by Bendis and artist Ryan Sook, but he’s quick to stress that we won’t be seeing the finished product for a while as it’s still in its infancy.
