Investigators spent two hours Monday grilling an artist who owns the studio where the Michigan rifleman’s parents live. Ethan Crumbley hidden — and now they’re checking his electronic devices to determine if he knows the couple is wanted by the police.
Andrzej Sikora65 years old, has not been charged, but the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has not ruled that out.
“The problem for Detectives is what Sikora knew and when he knew it,” authorities said in a statement.
Sikora’s attorney, Clarence Dass, said his client “voluntarily contacted” the Detroit Police Department and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office when he awoke Saturday to the allegations — four involuntary manslaughter — against James and Jennifer Crumbley.
They allegedly failed to prevent their 15-year-old son from going to school with a gun and opened fire, killing four teenagers and injuring seven others.
They were scheduled to be arranged on Friday but did not show up and were declared fugitives. Authorities then tracked them to the industrial building affiliated with Sikora.
The sheriff’s office said Sikora “was questioned extensively to determine whether he assisted James and Jennifer Crumbley in evading law enforcement.
“Shortly after the interrogation, the Sheriff’s detectives went to Sikora’s Troy’s home and executed a search warrant, seizing a number of digital devices for autopsy. The information will then be presented to prosecutors to determine whether the charges are appropriate.”
Dass said on Sunday that his clients are nothing more “friendly relations” with the couple, and although he was already in his studio when they arrived Friday morning, he had no idea they were still there overnight. The connection between Sikora and the Crumbleys was first identified by The Daily Beast on Saturday.
