CHALLENGE CELEBRATION: Friends and followers of Andre Leon Talley may have to wait until May to attend a memorial service for him.
Former editor at Vogue has been the subject of numerous media articles, social media posts and tributes since his sudden death on January 18. Members of Talley’s inner circle have been busy helping to sort out his affairs and map out the details of a gathering in his memory. The Abyssinian Baptist Church, where Talley regularly attends services, is expected to be the setting, according to his friend Jonathan Becker.

Talley’s attorney Erik Weinick declined to comment on his estate. Talley’s archives are slated to go to the Savannah College of Art and Design, the school he championed and which has a gallery named after him sponsored by von Furstenberg. “Andre is a real, true, real friend of mine. Last night I went back and reread hundreds of emails [that he had written]. We’ve actually been in a relationship – for real – for 48 years. And I fell in love with him,” she said.
