‘And Just Like That’ Best Fashion Moments in ‘Sex and the City’ Reboot – WWD

The reboot of “Sex and the City”, “And Just Like That”, did not disappoint the fans with fashion.
The show follows the characters Carrie Bradshaw (do Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (played by Kristin Davis), delivered some outstanding fashion moments references favorites from the original series (i.e. Bradshaw’s wedding shoes), as well as includes sought-after new apparel and accessories, such as bags from Gucci and Balenciaga’s Hacker Project .
“What we bring in is just updating it. Make it more modern. Working with new designers, new young designers all over the world,” said Danny Santiago, one of the reboot’s costume designers. in an interview with WWD. “Thanks to Instagram, we were able to find all these new people we could introduce. But again, let’s stick to what the girls already have and their looks.”

“And Just Like That” begins with a fashionable Easter egg in the first episode when Bradshaw brings out her beloved blue satin Manolo Blahnik Hangisi pump – which she calls her “court show.” wedding” because she wore them when she married Mr. Big in her first movie “Sex and the City” – to perform her daughter York’s piano recital.

The first episode of the reboot introduces audiences to the now-teens of York, Lily, and Rock, who attend the former member’s piano recital in matching floral gowns from the Oscars. de la Renta. After Mr Big’s death and her return to her West Village apartment, Bradshaw seemed to have returned to her fashion roots, wearing an oversized white tulle dress paired with a striped cardigan.
She further explored her fashion archive by pairing the look with Fendi’s iconic purple sequin baguette bag, which appeared in the third season of the original series in a memorable scene when Bradshaw is stuck on the street.

Controversy ensued before the reboot aired when the paparazzi captured Parker wearing a baby floral print dress that was originally labeled a Forever 21 outfit. Bradshaw wore a dress from a fast fashion retailer that surprised many who had worn it. to the character wearing only the clothes of high-end designers.
The controversy quickly dissipated after the show’s costume designers revealed the dress had been purchased at a vintage store years earlier and had no tags attached, so it’s unknown what brand the dress came from. from where.

One of the show’s newcomers is Nicole Ari Parker’s actress Lisa Todd Wexley – also known as LTW – who became friends with York through their child’s school. Wexley invited York and her husband to a dinner party, where she wore a vintage Rianna + Nina raglan dress in the brand’s festive print.
She paired the look with her signature chunky jewelry set, including Patricia von Musulin ebony and amber necklace, Mark Davis Jewelry bracelet, Monies black oversized bracelet, Emefa jewelry ring and We Dream in Color swan earrings.

“And Just Like That” has seen a number of other style stars emerge, including real estate agent Seema Patel, played by Sarita Choudhury. Patel wore several chic outfits throughout the season, including a brown georgette shirt and matching satin skirt from Fendi’s fall 2021 collection, the first set designed by Kim Jones, in fourth volume.
She paired the look with other Valentino couture accessories including a gold belt, rhinestone sandals and a Roman Stud handbag.

Patel had another standout fashion moment in episode six when she wore an Etro brown leopard print suit, which she teamed with Linda Farrow sunglasses and Verdura Jewelry.
Norma Kamali Diana’s Robe

Before the season aired, photos of Parker on set wearing a light blue Norma Kamali bodycon dress went viral as fans quickly dubbed it the “new Carrie Bradshaw dress”. Many describe the look as a more mature version of Bradshaw’s iconic “naked dress”, which was a landmark fashion moment in the original series.
Bradshaw wears a Norma Kamali dress in episode seven when she goes on her first date after Mr. She paired the dress with a classic Max Mara blazer.
Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classic Suit

Perhaps one of her more distinct looks, Bradshaw caught a classic moment in episode seven wearing a gray suit paired with a brown polka dot shirt, red tie, and purple jacket from Jean Paul Gaultier’s spring 1997 collection.
Smoking clothes

Fans were left baffled when photos of Parker on set were released showing her wearing what appeared to be one of the strangest outfits in Bradshaw’s history. The look includes a pink gingham Batsheva home dress, undone Mary Jane heels, a blue hoodie, a patterned scarf, and purple dishwashing gloves.
The look appeared in the show’s eighth episode, where it was made clear that Bradshaw’s look was in fact intentional. When she was reducing her tobacco use to just one day, she said that if cigarette smoke got on her clothes it would hinder her progress, so she wore a specific outfit. to take a daily smoking break.
Versace Mille Feuille dress

Episode 8 brings back another favorite from the original “Sex and the City” series: Bradshaw’s Versace “Mille Feuille” dress she wore in the original show’s two-part finale. The dress was first unveiled while Bradshaw was in Paris with then-boyfriend Aleksandr Petrovsky, who named the dress because of its many layers of tulle.
The dress returns in the series reboot during a scene where Bradshaw is perusing her fashion archive, taking it out to impress Patel and saying she’s only worn the dress twice (once in Paris and once while sitting in her apartment to eat an entire Jiffy Pop).
Bradshaw ends up wearing the dress again at the end of the episode after making amends with her younger neighbor downstairs, who tells Bradshaw she’s cool.
