Alled-Martinez Men’s Fall 2022 – WWD

Spanish designer Archie Alled-Martinez corrected the codes of early Aughts Abercrombie & Fitch for his latest collection. It was an attempt at acknowledging self-indulgence, as Alled-Martinez wanted to capture the nostalgia of his teenage years but reframe them through the lens of today’s strange youth culture. now.
“In this new generation, I’ve seen how they express and live their sexuality, it’s not like we did when I was a teenager,” the 31-year-old said. He looks back on those years as a time of more sexual restraint, and created this collection as a celebration of progress. “I wanted to bring back the 2004 and 2005 elements that were very different and put them in camp.”
Conveniently, the collection also became trendy as fashion looked back to that era, with ultra-low-waisted wide-leg trousers where colorful shorts were on display. There’s an undeniable Americana vibe in the designer jacket and denim baseball uniform. The tight-fitting T-shirts were introduced with a series of sexually suggestive scenarios, while another read “Enfant Terrible” – an update of a personal favorite of Alled-Martinez and the The title of the accompanying film describes the cravings of teenagers.
The Spanish designer says sales have doubled since he switched from knitwear to more modern products. The collection will be a hit with his younger clientele, but the shorts are only for the brave.
