In addition to being offered to your starters, most Pokémon the game features at least a handful of other Pokémon that the NPCs will entrust to you during your journey. These Pokémon, commonly referred to as “Gift” Pokémon, can be anything from species you won’t find nearby, not native to the area, or even legendary and mythical Pokémon that will Join you in your quest.
Brilliant diamond and Shining pearls There are actually very few proper Gift Pokémon, but you can still get at least five more party members if you know where to look or get some outside help.
Starting early, after completing the first leg of the Oreburgh City Gym challenge, you should head North to Floaroma Town. The quaint, flower-covered location has a lot to offer, but specifically in BDSP, it has a very special gift for certain players.
In the lower left area of Floaroma, an elderly couple is standing among some colorful flowers scattered around the town. If the player has previously saved data on their Nintendo Switch from Pokémon Let’s Go, Pikachu or Let’s go, Eevee and Sword Pokémon or Shield, you can get two mythical Pokémon.
With Let’s go data, the old woman will give the player a level one Mew. While, Sword or Shield data will help you get a Jirachi from an elderly gentleman. Those are two very powerful Pokémon that you can get basically for free if you’ve played before Pokémon Game. And that doesn’t even count The Manaphy Egg you can get through Mystery Gift for a limited time.
The next two gift Pokémon are staples of the original Diamond and Pearl, with both relating to Eggs.
When you reach Hearthome City, just before leaving the city, you can talk to a Hiker and he will give you an Egg. Once hatched, you’ll get a Happiny, the pre-evolved Chansey and Blissey, defensive powers that will serve you well on any team — especially if you want to play competitively.
The next Egg is quite a distance from Happiny, with players needing to battle their way through the lowest levels of Iron Island, a training ground just off the coast of Canalave City, alongside a man named Riley and Lucario’s. he. Once you get through and defeat Team Galactic Grunts that are making Pokémon more active in the area, Riley will give you an egg, which will eventually hatch into Riolu before Lucario’s evolution.
Those are the only four Gift Pokémon you can get before beating the main game, but there’s a more notable gift you can get after unlocking the Pokédex Country.
Back in Hearthome City with NatDex in hand, you can visit Bede at her home near the Pokémon Center. She will give you a level five Eevee, which you can then use to help complete NatDex.
