After the troubled launch of Battlefield 2042, EA is shaking things up in DICE

Dust can barely settle after Launching Battlefield 2042, but EA shook things up by restructuring the franchise with a new directive.

Under a new GameSpot . Report, the Director General of DICE, Oskar Gabrielson, was absent and Rework, do it again co-founder Vince Zampella joined, taking over the power of the Battlefield franchise.

According to Zampella, who spoke with GameSpot to announce this restructuring, the plan is not to replace Battlefield 2042, but instead to create a mysterious new “connected Battlefield universe”.

In a conversation with GameSpot, Zampella explained that, in this connected Battlefield universe, “the worlds are interconnected by shared characters and stories,” which sounds like a sequel, and or prequel to us.

The new universe will also be said to “harness the power of Portal and user-generated content, putting creativity in our players’ hands,” according to Zampella, but hopefully, that doesn’t mean we have to make half the game ourselves.

Oskar Gabrielson also announced his departure in a statement above Twitter, wrote that “my last decade with the team at [DICE] nothing amazing. There are so many great memories working with our team.
