Aftab Pureval, Michelle Wu and others make history in mayoral elections

Fourteen of the nation’s 100 largest cities are led by girls of colour, together with eight who’re Black, based on the Heart for American Ladies and Politics at Rutgers College. Earlier than Tuesday, three have been Asian American. The ranks of minority girls mayors expanded Tuesday with the elections of Michelle Wu, an Asian American and the primary girl and politician of colour voted to guide Boston, and Elaine O’Neal, who would be the first Black girl to guide Durham, N.C.
