Park “Teddy” Jin-Sung, Ryu “Hoit” Ho-Sung, Yoo “FATE” Su-Hyeok and Choi “Ellim” El-Lim join Afreeca Freecs ‘2022 League of Legends list, organization revealed today. These four players filled in the previously empty ADC, support, mid lane, and jungle positions. The four joined with longtime top laner Kim “Kiin” Gi-in to complete the Afreeca Freecs roster.
The LCK organization has also contract extension of LCK CL Coaches Byun “Citrus” Ji-Woong and Suh “Moon” Hyeon-Kwon. The announcement tweet stated that the two coaches will be promoted after “stellar performance” in the LCK CL Summer.
This new iteration of the Afreeca Freecs roster brings in three former T1 players Teddy, Hoit, and Ellim. Afreeca Freecs’ new mid laner, FATE, was added to the roster just days after being released by Liiv SANDBOX, with former T1 mid laner Lee “Clozer” Ju-Hyeon taking his place.
In the 2021 LCK season, Afreeca had moderate to poor results throughout the Spring and Summer. In the spring, Afreeca faced off against Fredit BRION for the final spot. In the Summer Split, the LCK team made it to the knockout stages but were eliminated by Nongshim RedForce in the first round.
Afreeca Freecs is looking forward to regaining its place in the LCK and back as an international threat. The last time Afreeca qualified for international competition was at Worlds 2018. After bringing in four new players and revamping the coaching staff, the organization is looking to compete for the top spot in the LCK once again.
