Western Bulldogs star Josh Dunkley has been forced into home isolation by Victoria’s Department of Health for 14 days after visiting a Level 1 COVID-19 exposure site last week.

The Gunnery Midfielder attended a cafe on July 14, which was later declared a hotspot – with his quarantine period set to run from the day he attended the venue until Thursday. Wednesday, July 28.

Despite returning two negative coronavirus tests since then, it excludes Dunkley from this weekend’s clash with the Adelaide Crows.

Bulldogs have issued the following statement in this regard.

“Western Bulldogs quarterback Josh Dunkley has been directed by Health Victoria to undergo 14 days of home isolation, after visiting a Level 1 coronavirus exposure site last week,” the statement read.

“Dunkley visited his local coffee shop on July 14, which was later announced as a contact location. He was contacted by the Ministry of Health yesterday, and his mandatory isolation period starts from the day he arrived at the scene.

“As of July 14, Dunkley has received two separate negative coronavirus test results.

“The entire Bulldogs tour group also received a negative result during their trip to the Gold Coast, as part of the AFL’s testing regimen.

“Dunkley is complying with quarantine requirements and will not be available for the Round 19 game this weekend, while the rest of the Bulldogs team will continue to prepare as normal.”

Dunkley over the weekend just returned for his first game since Round 6 after undergoing a shoulder rebuild.

He counted 21 rejections in Bulldog’s 11-point win over the Gold Coast Suns.

There are 15 players and staff from the Sydney Swans and GWS Giants who were forced into quarantine on Sunday after attending last week’s Rugby Test between the Wallabies and France in Melbourne.
