Acend has reached the knockout round of Valorant Champions after defeating Team Envy with a score of 2-0. With the win, Acend is now the fourth European side to break into the top eight. Although Acend faced an unstable start in their first game, the team looked a lot calmer and could pull through. through Envy’s defence. With the Sentinels already out of the event, Team Envy and Cloud9 Blue will have to win their respective Elimination matches to feed North America’s hopes at Valorant Champions.
Acend vs Team Envy Match 1 – Ascent (Acend won 13-8)
After leading 8-4 in the first half, Acend ended the match with a score of 13-8. Vladyslav “Kiles” Shvets looks unstoppable with the player topping the scoreboard with 18 kills and 11 kills.
Acend vs Team Envy Match 2 – Bind (Acend won 13-11)
Acend needs to win the map to become the fourth European team to make it to Europe, and Mehmet “CNed” Yağız İpek helped Acend do just that. Acend had an impressive 9-3 lead in the first half and was looking to get into the knockout stages with ease but Envy held out for a while. After coming back in the second half, Acend finally finished the game with a score of 13-11.
Acend has made it to the knockout round but Team Envy is not out yet. Team Envy and Cloud9 Blue are still competing as sole North American representatives, and the teams will be looking to return to the knockout stages.
