Acend and Team Liquid make it to the Semifinals

After wrapping up Day 8 of Valorant Champions, Acend and Team Liquid made it to the semi-finals. If Gambit Esports and Fnatic win tonight, we could have an all-European showdown in the semifinals later this week. After last night’s quarterfinals, Team Secret and Cloud9 Blue were eliminated from the competition. North America is no longer represented in this event and it will take until X10 CRIT to represent Southeast Asia and potentially make it into the top 4.

Acend vs Team Secret (Acend won 2-0)

Acend has had a smooth ride at Valorant Champions so far while Team Secret had a bumpy road on the way to yesterday’s match. Acend remained solid even in the top eight and was able to defeat Team Secret comfortably without dropping the map.

Acend dominates defensive rounds with Aleksander “zeek” Zygmunt is on top of his game. Team Secret had glorious moments with Kevin “Dispensers” Te took out four Acend players on his own at a time but that wasn’t enough to stop the European team from finishing both maps in style.

Team Liquid vs Cloud9 Blue (Liquid won 2-0)

Cloud9 Blue advanced to the match against Team Liquid as the final team from North America. Fans had high hopes for North America but with the Sentinels and Team Envy being eliminated just before the knockouts began, it was disappointing, to say the least. Unlike the Acend vs Team Secret matchup, C9 vs Liquid is a lot more competitive and both maps are directional.

Team Liquid will face Acend in the semifinals. If Gambit Esports and Fnatic win their respective matches tonight, Europe will be assured of winning this season’s world championship.
