A romance on Capitol Hill: ? Found love in a hopeless place?

On July 15, Andy and Gloria had their first date, going to the National Portrait Gallery, where they lingered to admire the newly published portraits of Barack and Michelle Obama by Kehinde Wiley, then go down to the block to get a gelato. Neither of them wanted it to end, so they wandered to Hawk ‘n’ Dove for a frosé – millennial-speak for a frozen persimmon. They answered each other’s first questions: She told him she was from Raleigh, the only daughter of an immigrant businessman and a mother who values computer parts; he told her he was an identical twin from Hartford, Conn., and the son of a sociology professor and a nonprofit leader. Both are patriotic and prefer intimate gatherings with close friends rather than walking the streets. Both work for representatives of their home states and aspire to make a difference. To Gloria, Andy doesn’t look like the workaholic social climber modeled on Hill.
