The man who attacked WWE star Seth Rollins during an event at the Barclays Center has now been arrested and charged.

Rollins was already a big star in WWE after his debut on the main roster in 2012 alongside Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose (Now it’s Jon Moxley) at the annual Survivor Series awards. Rollins has since become a WWE Champion, a WWE Universal Champion, a Raw Tag Team Champion, a Money in the Bank winner, and many more.

During a live TV broadcast from the Barclays Center on Monday night, Rollins danced by a WWE fan when he went up the ramp. The man has been identified as Elisah Spencer, who handled Rollins shortly after his in-ring segment with WWE star Finn Balor. Spencer and Rollins scuffled each other on the ground as WWE officials and security tried to break the challenge. Spencer is currently facing attempted assault and attempted violation of arts and cultural affairs charges from the NYPD. According to police, Rollins refused medical treatment after the incident.

In a statement to ESPN, WWE said, “WWE takes the safety of its performers very seriously. The individual that attacked Seth Rollins has been turned over to the NYPD and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. ” The attack was initially captured on camera during WWE’s live broadcast, but the feed quickly changed. Instead, commentators told viewers through replays of Rollins’ attack on his intended opponent, Balor, in the ring just before the incident. Soon after, Rollins was shown on the entrance ramp with his mouth covered in blood. He then returned to the ring to watch the main event of Raw.

On Sunday night, Rollins was the captain of Team Raw’s Survivor Series team, which won against Team SmackDown. Rollins is joined this team by Kevin Owens, Balor, Bobby Lashley, and Austin Theory. Rollins was the sole survivor of Team Raw and led his team to victory after taking three points against Jeff Hardy. Before the scheduled match against Balor, Rollins told the crowd that he single-handedly defeated Team SmackDown and that he would once again prove to Balor that he was the better one. Rollins will then attack Balor before the match begins.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a fan has attempted to interrupt a live sporting event. Back in July, a AEW fans jumped over the obstacle and entered the ring before being knocked down by the floor staff. Both WWE and AEW go to great lengths to protect their employees from incidents like these, and while they are rare, WWE will likely implement additional protocols to avoid recidivism.
