A man strung Christmas lights from his home to his neighbor’s to support her. The whole community followed.
She and Riggs were shocked to see neighbors with drills and ladders, on their roofs and trapped in trees – doing whatever they had to to hang the lights horizontally. They were mostly masked and at a distance from each other, but for the first time in a long time, the feeling of closeness – and lightness – was back.
