A First Look at Sarah Lancashire as Julia Child in the HBO comedy series Max (PHOTOS)

Julia Child will come HBO Max this spring.

The streaming service has announced that its original comedy series, Julia, will premiere on Thursday, March 31, with the first three episodes. The rest of the season will be released weekly, through May 5. HBO Max has also released the first images of the cast, which includes Sarah Lancashire as a famous chef.

The series is inspired by the extraordinary life of Julia Child and her television series, French Chef, which pioneered the modern cooking program. Through the life of Julia and her single life, the series explores a pivotal moment in American history – the emergence of public television as a new social institution, feminism, and the sub-movement. women, celebrity nature, and the cultural evolution of the United States. At its heart, the series is a portrait of a loving marriage with a shifting force dynamic. The eight-episode series also stars David Hyde Pierce, Bebe NeuwirthBrittany Bradford, Fran Kranzand Fiona Glascott.

Julia produced by Lionsgate and 3 Arts Entertainment. Chris Keyser serves as host and executive producer alongside creators Daniel Goldfarb, 3 Arts Entertainment’s Erwin Stoff, Kimberly Carver, and Charles McDougall. Todd Schulkin is a consultant producer on behalf of the Julia Child Foundation for Food and Culinary Arts.
