A brutal crime thriller that scratches and claws its way into the Netflix charts

Throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, Vince Vaughn became so used to his laconic screen personality, and as a result, he felt as though he was starting to use it.
On his best days, the actor was an easily enticing presence with professional comic timing, but the law of diminishing returns eventually and inevitably sets in. A reinvention was needed, with writer-director S. Craig Zahler accompanying the project at exactly the right moment in time.

The end result is Quarrel in Box 99, this is often an uncompromising and uncomfortable watch, but also an incredible showcase for Vaughn’s underappreciated dramatic talent. Former boxer Bradley Thomas lost his job and became a drug mule, which culminated in his imprisonment.
Thrown in prison with nowhere to go, he is forced to capitalize on his violent tendencies in a brutal fashion in order to survive. Follow FlixPatrol, Quarrel in Box 99 climbed the most watched list on Netflix, which is highly unusual as it doesn’t exactly drip in the festive cheer. Still, it’s a great movie, bolstered by an incredible performance that sees Vaughn sink deep into a meaty role that lives up to your expectations.
