As Chiles, a Tualatin, Oregon native, prepares for the most important second in her gymnastics profession, it’s onerous to imagine there was a time when she virtually give up gymnastics fully.
After failing to be chosen to compete on the world championships in 2017 and ending eleventh within the all-around at U.S. Championships in 2018, there was a time when Chiles thought of whether or not she needed to proceed with gymnastics.
“I simply wasn’t in the proper mindset,” Chiles stated in Could, via NBC Sports. “I didn’t know if I needed to do gymnastics anymore… I’d cry and cry and cry, and no person knew.”
So Chiles made a change — shifting from Washington state to Texas to coach with four-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles. The remainder, as they are saying, is historical past.
