5 Actors Who Could Be The Next Great Bond Villain
James Bond has plenty of villains he’s fought over the years. From Dr. No to Goldfinger to Blofeld, Bond has faced many cunning conspiracies. While these villains are often unique in their plots, much of what makes many of these villains so memorable is because of the actors who portrayed them. With a new generation of Bond now Daniel Craig finished his run in the suit, it’s time to look forward to actors who can make great villains for the British spy to confront.
James Bond has been fighting against villainous masterminds for over 70 years. Across the books and movies, the secret service has prevented coups, wars between nations, and planetary destruction. With each new villain comes a new, complicated storyline that James Bond was nearly unable to stop in time. While some villains are not defeated the first time, as was the case with Blofeld, they often meet their final end at the hands of Bond. The villains Bond confronts on his own often appear quite confident at first while then spiraling into madness as Bond gets closer to stopping them.
Rebecca Ferguson is a Swedish actress who burst onto the scene at the end of the year. Her acting career started with the Swedish soap opera Nya Tider, and just grow from there. She continued to star in Mission: Impossible franchise with Tom Cruise as Ilsa Faust, establishing herself as a spy-based action star. Her most recent outing was Lady Jessica in Sand dunes, showing off her great acting talent. Ferguson could easily portray a cold, calculating Bond villain while performing whatever stunts were needed for the part.
Idris Elba is a British actor with so many films in his background that people have most likely seen him in something. Gained recognition for her roles on film and television such as Stringer Bell in Wire and Heimdall in God of thunder, Idris has easily shown he has a talent for command requires the presence of a Bond villain. His role as the villain in Hobbs and Shaw shows he’s also more than capable of stunts, as the character is pretty much a Bond villain in and of his own.
Leonardo DiCaprio has entered the acting game since he was a child, with his role in What to eat Gilbert grapes showed his acting talent very early. While the actor’s skills eventually earned him an Oscar after years of starring in hit movies, he hasn’t stopped turning to great roles ever since. A good, comparable role for him to take on the Bond villain would be when he plays Calvin Candy in Django Unchained. The character can go from captivating to threatening in no time, with his dining table monologue being particularly striking.
Anya Taylor-Joy began her acting career when she left school at the age of 16 to pursue her career. This seems to have worked for her, as she found her breakout role in 2015 Witch as Thomasin. Her ability and range have made her more successful with some of her more recent roles being in Edgar Wright’s. Last night in Soho and Netflix’s Queen’s Gambit. The latter role brought her many awards for her performance. While she doesn’t quite have the typical commanding presence of Bond villains, she could easily portray a more stubborn villain who pulls strings instead of being directly involved. themselves in their intrigues.
Oscar Isaac is a Guatemalan actor who started his career in the early 2000s. He did a lot of theater work before finally breaking into film and working his way up. With all these roles, Oscar has proven that he is more than capable of portraying a Bond villain, with his character in Ex Machina was very similar to a Bond villain.
Any of these talented actors has the potential to excel if given the opportunity to play the Bond villain. Some of them, assuming they haven’t played a more villain yet, may even jump at the chance to do so, especially in a popular series like James Bond. Rebecca Ferguson, Idris Elba, Leonardo Dicaprio, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Oscar Isaac are all very talented actors who can chew on the scene and really turn any of their assigned roles. While it may be a while until the world gets to see another Bond movie, any of these actors would make an excellent debut villain when trying to get through. Who could the new James Bond be?.
