Reddit user u/Bogey01 put some serious time and energy into creating an impressive two-foot-tall 3D printed replica PortalGLaDOS’s. While it’s not clear why anyone would be willing to put an evil, cunning AI in their home, u/Bogey01’s diversion is precisely the GLaDOS we know and love.

U / BOGEY01’s 2-FT TALL GLaDOS 3D PRINT VERSION
Originally posted in both r / play games and r / 3D printing subreddits, u/Bogey01 introduced their printed, painted and mounted GLaDOS. While they didn’t go into too much detail about their overall process, they did reveal that the entire process took 150 hours over the course of two years.
Overall, u/Bogey01 used 4kg of filament to create a GLaDOS about 2 feet tall. Using 3D printed base parts, they painted the pieces to bring the robot villains to life fully. The additional hardware, sanding, mounting, and general construction all come from u/Bogey01 themselves.
Also, u/Bogey01 goes on to say that the large-scale clone has a limited range of motion. Although original STL files for the project allowed full automation, u/Bogey01 chose size instead of function. They scaled up the project by 150%, which unfortunately completely changed the dimensions and requirements for full motion.
Even so, they comment that the size allows for more space, meaning there’s potential for some more customization in the future. With room for Google Home or Alexa inside the building, perhaps one day GLaDOS can respond with her iconic sassy in real life.
To really perfect the vision, u/Bogey01 went on to say that they’re “thinking about giving it a motion tracking number so she can silently assess people as they pass by.” Of course, this would be true of GLaDOS fashion.
The included wiring and hardware really bring u/Bogey01’s work to life. It’s unbelievable what game fans can create these days with 3D printing becoming more and more accessible every day!
