30,000 without power during a 35-minute outage in Kelowna – Okanagan

Thousands of Central Okanagan residents were temporarily without power Thursday.

According to FortisBC, planned work in Kelowna resulted in a power outage that affected 30,700 customers.

The work was taking place at a substation in Kelowna and this work caused a brief outage in which the power suddenly went out at 11:25 am

Fortis says service was fully restored 35 minutes later and that they are investigating why the power went out.

Fortis recognizes the inconvenience customers have been going through and appreciates their patience and understanding.
