The owners of the Chicago Cubs have dropped their interest in buying Chelsea. That leaves three bids remaining for the sale of the Premier League club to be coerced by sanctioned Russian owner Roman Abramovich. The bid is being led by Cubs president Tom Ricketts but is facing backlash from fans because of his father, Joe’s Muslim comments, outlined in leaked emails three years ago. The consortium did not directly address the “issues” that prevented it from pursuing the bid before the final submission deadline on Thursday. The remaining three bids also included North American sports team investors.
