@7:30 PM – India at Tokyo Olympics – Indian Players check-in GAMES Village, will start training from tomorrow – According to the official release by the Indian Olympic Association – “All athletes coaches and support staff have been conveniently accommodated in the village and all are comfortable,” read an official statement.
- They enjoyed their meals at the dining hall hassle-free and all of them are at ease and relaxed.
- The Infection control protocol has been briefed to all the contingent members and COVID-19 testing kits have been distributed to the respective coaches.
- The training of all the teams will start tomorrow morning, Monday, July 19.
- With Sumit Nagal’s entry confirmation now India will have 127 athletes representing them across 18 sports disciplines from India will be heading to Tokyo. This is the biggest-ever contingent India is sending to any Olympics. The 69 cumulative events across the 18 sport disciplines that India will participate in are also the highest ever for the country.

More bad news is coming from Tokyo as an unnamed staff member of the Czech Olympic team has been tested positive for Covid-19. The Czech Olympic Committee confirmed the news in a statement after landing in Tokyo.
“Unfortunately, despite all measures, we could not avoid this situation,” said Martin Doktor, the Czech Olympic team head.
“All the other members of the team have tested negative and all athletes are OK in the Olympic Village,” added the two-time Olympic champion in canoe sprint from Atlanta 1996

Tokyo Olympics LIVE Updates – 6 Days to GO: Japan’s strict regulations for India and Group A countries
The Indian athletes and officials travelling for the Tokyo Olympics have been going through daily COVID-19 tests for a week prior to their departure.
After arrival in Tokyo they will get into 3 days quarantine and will not be allowed to interact with anyone from another country for three days on arrival.
Stricter regulations have been put in place for all travellers — including athletes, coaches, and support staff — who have resided in 11 countries, including India, where different variants of COVID-19 have been identified, within 14 days of their arrival in Tokyo.

Indian Men and Women Hockey teams leaving from Bangalore SAI Centre for Delhi to leave for Tokyo tonight on 17th July from Delhi.
Hockey is the biggest individual sport Contingent going to Tokyo comprising of 19 men, 19 women and 15 officals ie a total of 53, well done Hockey India.

Tokyo Olympics LIVE Updates – 6 Days to GO: India has been clubbed in group 1 alongside Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka – NORMS for Indian Athletes
- “Before you travel: You must be tested every day, for seven days, prior to your departure to Japan,” the advisory stated for the Group 1 countries.
- “Physical distancing: For seven days prior to your departure to Japan, you must keep your physical interaction with all others, including from another team, delegation or country, to an absolute minimum,” it added.
- On arrival, athletes and officials will also not be allowed to interact with anyone else apart from their own delegation for three days.
- “At the Games. You will be tested every day as is the case for all athletes and officials.”
- “For three days after your arrival in Japan, you will not be able to physically interact with anyone from another team, delegation or country.”
- Athletes have been asked to check into the Games Village five days before their competition begins.
