However, holiday lovers in San Francisco will face a disturbing picture when they go shopping for Christmas presents this year.
On Monday, San Francisco resident and School of Life founder Michelle Tandler posted a series of images on Twitter shows downtown businesses raising their glass doors to protect from the crime rampant in the city.

Later in the sequence, Tandler indicates the situation in San Francisco should blame political leaders in the city. She called the city “lawless” and said American citizens living there had been forced into “self-protection mode”.

According to the San Francisco Police Department website, murder, assault, arson and petty theft all increased from January 1 to November 21, compared with the same period the previous year.
Biggest gain from four crime was common theft, up 15.6% from 2020. Murder was the second highest motive, also with a 15.6% increase over last year.
The department reported that assault crime increased by 9.2%, while arson increased by 8.1%.
Even by themselves, these numbers are alarming. However, one city resident’s claim that the reported numbers are “fictitious” suggests that crime rates may even be higher than reported.
Do leftist policies increase crime rates?
The rate of petty theft should be particularly alarming for business owners as they are likely to be directly affected. That may explain why many left-wing San Francisco stores have used wooden boards in the hope of protecting their inventory.
Under normal circumstances, this strategy would almost certainly not be helpful to the business or its customers. Shoppers won’t feel invited in by the nasty wooden planks that spoil the curb appeal of stores, and businesses will feel the impact of shoppers turning away.
However, many stores have chosen to stay open and are trying to inform customers that they are still open for business. The fact that they are willing to ruin their aesthetic appearance to improve security shows just how bad the situation has become.
San Francisco isn’t the only city where crime has skyrocketed. Chicago, another city run by the left, is also experiencing significant problems.
Follow Chicago Sun-Times, 617 people were killed and at least 3,768 were wounded by bullets in the city as of October 23. The outlet said Chicago was “in the spotlight of what could be one of the deadliest years of life.” since the mid-1990s”.
Both of these Democratic-run cities have strict gun control laws, but crime continues to rise. It is clear that leftist policies incompatible with law and order are the real culprits.
