Another unpredictable week has hit the NFL, although at this stage of the season the chaos is predictable. NS Houston Texas and Minnesota Vikings created even more shambles in Week 11, beating the teams that entered the week with at least four more wins than them for the year. There have been eight such wins this season, tied to the 1974 campaign (eight) for the most winning teams against opponents with at least four wins in the season through Week 11.
Since Week 9, there have been 11 wins by teams with a win percentage of .500 or lower against the division’s top teams, such wins occurring most frequently during Weeks 9-11 of the division. one season since merging in 1970. While upsets have balanced between divisions in recent weeks, there hasn’t been much disturbance in this week’s divisions standings.
For at least a week, the divisions kept a normal pace. The road this season is on is going, that won’t be the same as when the league kicks off on Thanksgiving.
8. NFC North
Last week’s rank: 8
Minnesota Vikings upset Green Bay Packers certainly Green Bay won’t run away with this lousy tournament – one that actually features two teams in the NFC knockout stage in 11 weeks. NFC North has Chicago Bears (lost to five people in a row) and Detroit Lion (haven’t won a game all year), which puts them last in the tournaments.
Chicago’s loss to Baltimore without the best starting quarterback and wide receiver didn’t help either, and Detroit actually received a worse quarterback game in Week 11 than in previous weeks. NFC North has the league’s worst 11-19-1 in games out of division (0.371) and 16-24-1 overall (0.402). If this part is not available Aaron Rodgers…
7. AFC East
Last week’s rank: 7
NS Buffalo Bills troubled by Indianapolis Colts didn’t help the division explain why it would go up this week, even with the top division New England Patriots Turn off Atlanta Falcons. NS Miami Dolphins Winning three in a row has helped keep this tournament competitive, but the AFC East isn’t good enough to compete with the rest of the league at this point.
Buffalo plays with championship potential and New England continues to emerge as a playoff contender that can carry the division for the final seven weeks. AFC East is 12-16 in divisions (.429) and 19-23 overall (.452).
6. Southern AFC
Last week’s rank: 6
Houston Texans beat the top team Tennessee Titans was the saddest of the year – and really helped the division show that it was heavier than the top. Houston and Jacksonville Jaguars are still tied by the worst record in the AFC, which affects the strength of the top half of the tournament.
The Colts’ split win over the Bills shows the AFC South has two strong teams, both of which could be contenders for deep playoffs. Indianapolis will be tested with the top three of the division over the next four games – a period that could put the division up in the rankings.
The AFC South is just 11-17 in games out of division (.393) and 18-24 overall (.429).
5. NFC Male
Last week’s rank: 4
Losing two games to NFC East in Week 11 means that NFC Men is still in free fall. NS New Orleans Saints was blown away by Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Soccer Team beat Carolina Panthers. At least the one in the lead Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked after New York Giants.
The division currently has the Buccaneers and Saints in the knockout stages, but that could change given all the injuries in New Orleans. The Atlanta Falcons have been blown away in consecutive games, not helping the division’s strength among its peers in convention.
This division is Tampa Bay’s to lose at this point while the other three teams are just fighting for .500 or higher. The NFC South is 16-15 in games between divisions (.516) and 21-20 overall (.512).
4. NFC East
Last week’s rank: 5
Even with Dallas Cowboys lose Chief of Kansas City, NFC East deserved to be ahead of NFC South after the Eagles beat the Saints and Washington let Carolina down. Both games were at home for Philadelphia and Washington, but the wins are impressive for a division that could feature competing teams other than Dallas.
The Giants are a cause of failure at this point and are unlikely to help the department any time soon. The NFC East could be in the top four if Washington and Philadelphia can continue their strong play on the field. Dallas is also on another winning streak.
NFC East scores 16-19 in out-of-region games (0.457) and 19-22 in total (0.463), with three underdogs. 500. It doesn’t feel like there are three teams under .500 with the way the Eagles and Washington have played this month.
3. NFC West
Last week’s rank: 3
NFC West hosts serve this week, mostly because the division only has one game out of the division ( San Francisco 49ers crush Jacksonville Jaguars). Inside the department, The Arizona Cardinals easy care Seattle Seahawks Football Team on the road with a backup midfielder (Colt McCoy) and don’t have their top tag catcher (DeAndre Hopkins).
Arizona is the best team in NFC, the team that certainly keeps the division ahead of its conference peers. San Francisco’s resurgence in the playoff chat makes the division even stronger despite the struggles in Seattle. NFC West could still have three teams in the post-season period.
NFC West is 17-10 in divisional matches (.630, best in NFL) and 24-17 overall (.585).
2. AFC West
Last week’s rank: 2
The fact that Kansas City took care of Dallas in a captains game certainly showed the strength of the AFC West, a team that had a strong week. NS Los Angeles charger victory in a horror movie against Pittsburgh Steelers in prime time showcased a heavyweight battle for the lead between the two conference contenders over the final seven weeks – a huge plus for the AFC West.
NS Las Vegas Raiders Free fall after losing Cincinnati Bengals at home, but still at .500. This is one of two categories where every team scores .500 or higher. AFC West is 19-14 in out-of-division matches (.576) and 23-18 overall (.561).
1. Northern AFC
Last week’s rank: 1
Another week, the AFC North continues to top the standings after a strong performance by the division. Head of department Ravens beat the Bears on the road without their starting midfield and top receiver, while the Bengals took care of the Raiders on the road.
NS Cleveland Browns struggled with the Detroit Lions at home, but a win is a win in the NFL. The only loss in the division was by the Steelers, who regrouped in the fourth quarter against the Chargers for a late lead. The score could easily go to 4-0 this week.
Northern AFC is starting to withdraw from the field. Division is the league’s best 20-12-1 in divisional games (.621) and 24-16-1 overall (.598) – the best win percentage in the NFL. Each team has more than 500 spots in the AFC North, making this division easily the best in football.
