2 Saskatchewan kids found in South Dakota, Amber Alert canceled

Authorities in South Dakota have located two missing Saskatchewan children believed to be with a convicted sex offender.

An Amber Alert was canceled Wednesday morning by the Saskatchewan RCMP and South Dakota Police Department for the children, ages seven and eight. It was also assumed that their mother was with the children.

“Early today, the Saskatchewan RCMP was advised by our police partners in the United States that the four individuals who were the subject of Amber Alerts in Saskatchewan and South Dakota have been located and are with officers in South Dakota,” a statement released by Saskatchewan That’s what RCMP said on Wednesday.

The South Dakota Department of Public Safety told Global News the children were found late Tuesday.

The children are safe with law enforcement officials at this time and plans are underway to take them to Canada, said Tony Mangan, a department spokesman.

The suspect was arrested without incident, he added.

Saskatchewan RCMP issued the Amber Alert for the children Monday night and late Tuesday said it would be extended to South Dakota.
