15 to 20 protesters arrested at BC border truck rally as police move

Between 15 and 20 people were arrested Monday night at a protest of truckers block Pacific Highway Border crossing in Surrey, BC

Around 9 p.m., RCMP officers moved in and ordered protesters to leave the 176th and 2nd avenue areas, but not everyone complied.

This is the biggest crackdown at the border since the protest against COVID-19 The measures began there last week, inspired by the ongoing protest on Parliament Hill.

Over the weekend, several drivers drove their trucks across the median, breaching a police blockade and resulting in four arrests.

Traffic started moving across the border again after midnight.

It is unclear if this will be the end of the protest, but protesters said they will not stop until all COVID-19 duties are lifted.
