15 epic game store best free games offered this year
If free mystery game ads are not enough, Epic game store proved all year that it is one of the top subscription services when it comes to free games. While other services give away four times per month, EGS sometimes gives away four, eight or in the case of December, fifteen or more. The best part is, while EGS tends to focus on smaller, more interesting and potentially less noticeable titles, it still works in big AAA game that fans love.
Whether it’s AAA, indie, classic, simulation, shooter or something else, Epic game store gave away a lot of great games this year. Here are the best products, ordered in the month of release.
Star Wars Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition (January 2021)
Star Wars Battlefront 2 has grown beyond the initial controversy, becoming a Star Wars game in its own right. It’s enough on its own, but the Epic Games Store has gone even further and released a version of Celebration that comes with some extra features. Where Star Wars Battlefront 2 has now made many people want a third part of the series, but as of this writing, Star Wars Battlefront 3 seems unlikely.
Metro Last Light Redux (February 2021)
The “Redux” aspect of this Metro Last Light version is enhanced graphics and all included DLC in there, and it’s one fans shouldn’t miss. It can be the middle part of a triple, with Subway 2033 before it and Metro Exodus after it, but every game is worth playing over and over again. The entire franchise combines a lot of elements, especially this one, focusing on survival, horror, first-person shooter elements in a post-apocalyptic world with an emergent story. and that’s what a lot of games struggle to achieve. Metro Last Light Are not.
Surviving on Mars (March 2021)
Survive on Mars is a city management simulation game with a twist: based on Mars and modeled on data on this planet. Players can choose a sponsoring country, and using drones and drones, they prepare to colonize humans on the red planet. The ultimate goal is to create a prosperous colony through all Survive on Mars‘mechanics and systems’. This is easily a game someone could fall asleep on, but Epic assures potential fans won’t do the same.
Alien: Isolation (April 2021)

Among us (May 2021)
Social reasoning game that hardly needs any introduction, Between us. It became popular during the early part of the pandemic and has maintained that run, with its own ups and downs, ever since. Players take on the role of Between us‘bean-style crewmates (or imposters) who needs to complete some quests/kill other players before being discovered. While it has its quirks, it’s usually a fun, relaxing game, and is definitely better with friends.
Frostpunk (June 2021)
Frostpunk is a city management simulator where players must lead their citizens through the hardships of a volcanic winter. What makes it stand out from other city sims, aside from its unique premise, is the variety of options, evolutions, and potential events from game to game. Anyone who loves city simulation and post-apocalyptic games can find the perfect brainchild of these two genres in Frostpunkand what’s better is that they can also get it for free on the Epic Games Store. Just like this ambitious title, Frostpunk 2 was announced earlier this year with what is believed to be more ambitious.
Control (June AND December 2021)
Control is a great and beloved game from Remedy Entertainment, one that was so well received that the Epic Games Store gifted it to TWICE this year. The first was in June, and then as part of a mystery game promotion for the Epic Games Store holiday in December. The future of the franchise, and how it connects with Alan Wake and Notice of Alan Wake 2, it all looks like it could make a defining franchise for the current generation of games.
Overripe 2 (June 2021)
Overcooked 2 is a co-op cooking simulation game, a classic new life with new details. The sequel builds on the original in clever ways with new features, interactive levels, themes, costumes, recipes, etc. For a relaxing, fun co-op game Looks like there’s not much to challenge Overripe 2.
A Plague Tale: Innocence (August 2021)
This early year, A Plague Tale: Requiem announced for release in 2022 and it immediately attracted many eyes. It is shaping up to be a beautiful game, the kind that will keep people’s attention for years to come and not just a moment of play. Of course, not everyone may have played its predecessor, A Plague Tale: Innocence. Therefore, the Epic Games Store smartly released this game not long after announcing its sequel, and hoping that many people have already played it now and prepared for the upcoming sequel.
Yooka-Laylee (August 2021)
A third person platform, Yooka-Laylee featuring a chameleon and a bat on an adventure to retrieve the magic book from an evil corporation. Yooka-Laylee It looks like a much older game at first glance, despite its 2017 release, and that’s intentional. At its heart, it’s a retro and nostalgic journey inspired by games like Banjo-Kazooie.
Void Bastards (August 2021)
Speaking of inspiration, Bad bastards is an immersive sci-fi first-person shooter game influence from Shock system and BioShock. Bad bastards received mostly positive reviews upon release, with a lot of emphasis on the comic art style, dark humor, and overall gameplay. Bad bastards is an experience everyone should share, and the Epic Games Store has played its part in making that happen.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered (August 2021)
Saints Row will get a new entry in 2022, but 2021 isn’t entirely devoid of Saints. Epic Games Store gave away remastered version of Saints Row: The Third. The franchise is known for its escalation of events, with the final game being space conquest, but the third game sees the Saints—now a media consumer brand empire and pop culture — fighting for control of the city against the Syndicate, STAG, and whatnot.
Nioh: The Complete Edition (September 2021)
Nioh: The Complete Edition comes with the base game and three DLC, really giving fans the definitive experience. Nioh is an action RPG and franchise that many have compared to soul because of its hardcore approach to combat, but it’s also one of the few games in that niche that creates an identity of its own. soul To be soul, Nioh To be Nioh, and it’s the best thought for anyone still waiting for this in their backlog.
Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure (November 2021)
Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep originally a DLC for Border Zone 2, but it was given away because it almost directly got a sequel next year. All eyes are now on Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a full DnD-esque adventure in Borderlands universe, but it couldn’t have happened without this DLC. border zone 2 and 3 there are a lot of DLC, but many may point to this as their favorite. That not only bodes well for Wonderland next year, but this game is definitely one of the best games to give away through the Epic Games Store.
Dead by Daylight (December 2021)
Horror fans and real multiplayer fans get it all Dead by daylight. It’s a popular asymmetrical multiplayer game that has only grown and evolved in recent years, and for those hesitant, the free trial may have eliminated all of that. It will be interesting to see the new survivors and added killers Dead by daylight next year, but it certainly doesn’t look like it will slow down.
