14 Years Old Shot Almost 20 Times While Standing At A Bus Stop

In North Philadelphia on Monday, a 14-year-old boy was shot nearly 20 times.

While waiting for the bus, Samir Jefferson was killed, KYW-TV reported.

“One, maybe two, pull up. Two males broke free and started shooting at him, chasing him,” Philadelphia Police Chief Scott Small said.

Police officials announced that Jefferson was shot at least 18 times and died at Temple University Hospital.

A total of several dozen shots were fired. According to KYW, at least 35 rounds were fired from two semi-automatic weapons.

When police answered 911 calls after hearing gunshots, they found Jefferson.

“They found a young boy lying on the sidewalk. He shot many, many times,” Small said.

Philadelphia has seen a significant increase in crime and violence this year. More 500 murders took place in 2021, and there is still a month left in the year. This makes 2021, the deadliest year on record for Philadelphia, Announcement reported.

“[T]The number of homicides this year will be the highest since at least 1960, as far as the Police Department says it keeps statistics on homicides.” The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

To date, there have been 510 homicides in Philadelphia, up 12% from 2020, Philadelphia Controller’s Office reported.

As of Monday, there were 1,684 fatal shooting victims and 442 deaths in Philadelphia.

The last time Philadelphia saw this kind of crime and violence was in 1990, between crack the cocaine epidemic.

However, despite the increased violence, Philadelphia officials could not seem to agree on how to handle the situation. The city’s district attorney and police commissioner “just disagree,” Questioner reported.

“Basically, there are inaccuracies there, as far as what type of crime we prioritize and who believes are the main drivers of the violent crime we’re seeing,” the Philadelphia Police Commissioner said. Danielle Outlaw said.

However, in the meantime, the police are looking at Jefferson take a shot.

Prior to Jefferson’s death, Outlaw issued a statement.

“Earlier today, we lost another young life to senseless gun violence – the fourth since yesterday. My heart aches for the victims, their families and this city. While we cannot bring back those who are lost, the Philadelphia Police Department will ensure that these cases are fully investigated so that these victims and their families receive closure and justice. ” said Outlaw, according to KYW.

Police are investigating Jefferson’s death, but no charges have been filed yet, according to KYW. Police believe the murder was targeted, and witnesses and surveillance video helped police locate two people of interest.
