COSAR added that a helicopter was brought in to remove the damaged UTV.
COSAR crews arrived at the scene in their own UTV and then walked a short distance to the accident area.
Lake Country RCMP say they are investigating, adding that they received a call about 4:15 a.m. about a rollover on Spion Kop Mountain in the Summit Trail area
“When officers got to the scene, they located the UTV. The passenger, a 34-year-old man, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said.
“The driver, also a 34-year-old man, was arrested at the scene for fatal accidents and was taken to hospital by EHS with minor injuries.”
Police say the Lake Country Fire Department, BC Ambulance, COSAR and Kelowna RCMP Forensic Identification Services helped with this investigation.
“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time,” police said.
RCMP added that the BC Coroners Service is conducting its own parallel investigation into the death.
